About Nokia HMD Global
An exclusive, long-term license to use the Nokia brand on mobile devices is held by HMD Global, an independent Finnish business created by former Nokia executives. Because its main concentration is on network infrastructure and patent licensing, this “asset-light” model enables Nokia Corporation to make money through royalties without producing consumer phones. With a notable 22.4% market share by volume in India’s feature phone industry, HMD continues to have a substantial global presence. As of 2020, Nokia owned about 10% of HMD, making it another direct investment. In a calculated move, HMD started a multi-brand strategy in 2024, launching products under the “HMD” brand while still selling feature phones with the Nokia brand.
Roles & Responsibilities
The internship involves a detailed study of the Indian remittance market, covering aspects like market size, user demographics, and flow of funds. The intern will also analyze the regulatory framework, compare traditional and digital transaction methods, and examine consumer behavior to understand preferences and triggers for remittances. Furthermore, the role requires investigating the competitive landscape, exploring the potential for feature phone solutions, and studying retailer and consumer behavior to identify pain points and preferences.
