About the Internship
Pfizer’s drug-product process-modeling team (PMET) is looking for a Summer Intern (UG level) to help the team create novel computational tools to aid in the development of drug-dosage forms (tablets, capsules, multi-particulate beads, ointments/creams, and so on).
Qualifications
Completed a second or third year of engineering in a chemical, mechanical, pharmaceutical, or material science or a related field.
Skills Required
The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of fundamental engineering/physical concepts like mass, momentum, and energy transport processes, as well as the ability to set up and solve linear, nonlinear, and differential equations. It is necessary to have strong programming/coding skills as well as knowledge with numerical methodologies. Programming skills in a standard language such as C/C++, Python, R, Matlab, and others. A working knowledge of modelling tools such as the discrete element method (DEM) and/or computational fluid dynamics (CFD) will be advantageous.
Candidates must have outstanding communication skills, as close engagement with Pfizer project scientists is required.

The intern will have the opportunity to apply fundamental engineering principles to the research and development of pharmaceutical medicinal products. The intern will also use their programming skills to help the PMET team develop engineering and related solutions.
