About NHRC
India’s National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) is a statutory public body established on October 12, 1993, under the Protection of Human Rights Ordinance of September 28, 1993. The Protection of Human Rights Act of 1993 gave it legal status (PHRA). The National Human Rights Commission of India is responsible for the protection and promotion of human rights, which are described by the Act as “Rights Relating To Life, Liberty, Equality, and Dignity of the Person Guaranteed by the Constitution or Enshrined in International Covenants and Enforced by Indian Courts.”
Program: Online Short Term Internship Programme
Duration: 17th January, 2022 (Monday) to 31st January, 2022 (Monday) (15 days).
Structure of the Internship
To sensitise the interns, about 50 sessions on different human rights issues are proposed to be covered. The Online Short Term Internship (OSTI) – January, 2022 will include following inputs:
• Address / Interaction with Hon’ble Chairperson / Members of NHRC and other domain Experts
• Project work on Human Right issues.
• Book Review to be submitted by the students
• Films on Human Rights & Discussion – Child Labour issues, Water Sanitation, Sports, Anti Trafficking, Health including mental health and Education issues and discussions etc.
• Virtual Field Visit
- Virtual visit to Jail
- Virtual field visit to Police Station
- Virtual field visit to NGO
Students get to see how these institutions operate and can have their questions answered.
Eligibility / Selection Criteria
- Students enrolled in the third year or later in any integrated five-year PG programme.
- Students in their third or final year of a bachelor’s degree programme.
- Students enrolled in any post-graduate degree programme in any semester or year.
- Students enrolled in any post-graduate diploma programme in any semester or year.
- Students who are research scholars in any stream.
Note: Students must have continuously received at least 60% in Class XII and all following courses (all semesters), including the ones they are currently pursuing. The determined percentage, as well as the formula for calculating the %, must be stated explicitly from their CGPA/SGPA. Failure to accomplish one of these things will result in the application form being rejected.
Stipend
- All student interns who complete the internship satisfactorily will earn a stipend of Rs. 2000/-. (Rupees Two Thousand only)
- Candidates will be given a certificate of participation based on the following criteria: Punctuality, Punctuality, Punctuality, Punctuality, Punctuality, Punct Participation in online sessions is required, as are timely submissions of project presentations, project reports, and book reviews.
