About National Commission For Women
The National Commission for Women was established as a statutory body under the National Commission for Women Act, 1990 (Act No. 20 of 1990) to further review the constitutional and legal safeguards available to women, recommend remedial measures to remove impediments to achieving these goals, facilitate grievance redress, and advise the government on all policy matters affecting women.
Roles & Responsibilities
Working with the commission to organise workshops/consultations, forming expert committees, conducting studies/making recommendations for the economic empowerment of women, conducting workshops/seminars for gender awareness, and launching a public awareness campaign against such social evils are among the day-to-day responsibilities of selected interns.
Details
Scheme A: Unpaid Internship for a duration not less than 30 days for 1st year students of 3 year LLB Course or 3rd year student of 5 year LLB Course/Post Graduate in Sociology/Social Work 1st year.
Scheme B: Paid Internship for a duration of 60 days.

Selection Criteria
Interns will be chosen based on the following criteria:
Scheme A: On a first-come, first-served basis, provided that all qualifying requirements are met.
Scheme B: 50% weighting for the percentage achieved in the previous two years and 50% weighting for the quality of the ‘Statement of Purpose’ uploaded as part of the proforma.
Additional Details
- Students interested in interning with the NCW should submit their applications using the required proforma, noting the days they would like to intern with the Commission in the calendar year 2021. A letter of recommendation from the Head of the Institution may also be uploaded. Students will be accommodated as near as feasible to their requested dates, and if this is not possible, alternative dates will be suggested.
- Each intern will be required to keep a journal of their work in the Commission on each day of their internship. All interns will also be required to sign a confidentiality declaration regarding information/documents that come to their attention.
