About Lok Sabha

The Lok Sabha, or House of the People, is India’s bicameral Parliament’s lower chamber, with the Rajya Sabha serving as the upper house. Members of the Lok Sabha are chosen to represent their individual constituencies by adult universal suffrage and a first-past-the-post system, and they serve for five years or until the body is dissolved by the President on the suggestion of the council of ministers. The house meets in the Sansad Bhavan’s Lok Sabha Chambers in New Delhi.

About the Internship

The program will provide devoted learners in various professions with an opportunity to study about the procedural features of the workings of the world’s biggest temple of democracy, the Indian Parliament, particularly the Lok Sabha. The services of young academic talent with experience in their field of study and familiarity with advanced technologies/software will be employed to improve the quality and accelerate the Secretariat’s many ongoing projects and research.

Roles & Responsibilities

The inducted interns will be expected to enrich PRIDE using cutting-edge technology by building a strong data base of all academic papers related to legislation and development, developing Parliament-related apps to improve Members of Parliament’s interface with their various data and work, providing high-quality research and preparing analysis briefs of various legislations, follow noteworthy changes in key sectors and create notes for Members of Parliament, as well as compose thematic briefs on key policy concerns.

Furthermore, their skills and abilities can be used to expand the scope and reach of existing programs, as well as to introduce new programs for Members of Parliament in order to encourage them to adopt new technologies, methodologies, and innovations.

The interns will work on a variety of PRIDE projects, including developing course material for PRIDE’s fixed programs, providing logistical support to PRIDE, data analysis and updation for future use, analyzing best practices in various areas and writing briefs, and so on.

*PRIDE stands for Parliamentary Research and Training Institute for Democracies.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Indian citizens between 18 to 25 years of age and;
  • Possessing Graduation / PG in any discipline such as social science and environment, International Relations, Law, Journalism, Finance, Management, Languages, etc. from recognized Institutes in India or abroad as on 9 June 2021.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with job experience in any sector, including research, counselling, management, marketing, computers, and allied professions.
  • Candidates who are studying professional courses and have completed the first year of a four or five-year program may also apply for the Internship Program.

Duration

The selected candidates may opt for the duration of the Internship from one month to eleven months.

Stipend

During the Internship Term, the Interns would be paid Rs.25,000/- per month.
