Applications are being accepted for a free online course on ‘Electric Vehicles and Renewable Energy’ at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT-M). The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has approved the course, which is open to both students and professionals. The key topics that are going to be discussed in this course include Overview of Electric Vehicles in India, Vehicle Dynamics, Storage for EVs, Fundamentals of EV Battery Pack design, Battery Charging and Swapping, Introduction to Energy Scenario in India among others.
This IIT Madras Electric Vehicle Course is open to students and professionals with an interest in electric vehicles. According to the official advertisement, it is most beneficial for students pursuing Bachelors, Masters, MS, PhD, or professionals working in various fields. The class will take place on the SWAYAM – NPTEL platform.
Ashok Jhunjhunwala, an IIT-M professor who previously taught at Washington State University in the United States, will teach the course.
Regular assignments will be given to the participants. To be eligible for a certificate, students must maintain a grade point average of 25%. For the certificate, a fee of Rs 1,000 will be charged. Participants must pass an online written exam at one of the designated testing centres.
The course will take place from July 26 to October 15, 2021. The exam will take place on October 24, 2021. Registration for this, however, will be announced at a later time. Students will benefit from the three credit points offered by the course.
