Roles & Responsibilities
You’ll be a key member of the team that builds databases, analyses, and visualises transportation data in India and elsewhere (especially other Commonwealth markets like Australia, New Zealand, UK). You’ll complement the team’s writing and analytical capabilities, and you’ll preferably be able to bring quantitative, presentation, and mapping expertise. You’ll be judged on your dedication, originality, and ability to create captivating visualisations and analyses that inspire admiration beyond words. You’ll learn how data is the holy grail for decision-making, and you’ll get a taste of mobility in cities throughout the world, including India.
The research team has extensive knowledge of all types of urban mobility as well as large-scale research approaches. Architecture, urban planning, political science, development economics, mathematics, sociology, policymaking, and entrepreneurship are among the team’s educational backgrounds. Data visualisation, analytics, urbanisation, and mobility should all be areas of interest, with a particular emphasis on the ability and tools to map (GIS skills).
Your scope of work includes –
Knowledge products based on research and presentations (60 percent of time required)
- Secondary research: Create a repository of city and transportation-related data and papers that can be used to make estimates.
- Perform regression analysis and co-relate distinct parameters to make sense of diverse parameters impacting mobility.
- Create policy papers and submissions related to OMI’s urban mobility activities.
- Look for research possibilities that will have a big impact.
Creating graphics and designs to help visualise data and build the final result (40 percent of time required)
- Create visually appealing materials to communicate research findings and analytical content to civil society, corporations, non-technical audiences, the media, the government, and other stakeholders.
- Participation and presentation in research-oriented fora.
Qualifications
- Pursuing a master’s degree or a bachelor’s degree in urban planning, transportation planning, or urban design.
- Extensive knowledge on how to create maps as a data visualisation tool.
- Strong research and analytical skills, as well as a knack for numbers.
- The ability to grasp facts and create effective messages through the use of visualisation.
- Organized, detail-oriented thinker capable of juggling many, competing goals.
- The ability to comprehend patterns of urban growth and development, as well as the policies that influence them and how they relate to mobility.
Duration
