The rating agency Moody’s Investors Service and its entire product line Moody’s Analytics were the two operational divisions of Moody’s Corporation that were split out in 2007.

Job description

The group’s primary goal is to develop products pertaining to data, applications, and insured property exposures. These goods are a vital component of our product line and offer our customers a plethora of useful information. In a multidisciplinary setting, the candidate will develop, design, and implement a variety of data products and solutions utilized in property and casualty data quality assessment and enhancement, value modeling, and catastrophe risk modeling. It would be expected of the candidate to acquire and apply a thorough understanding of the goods and pertinent technology.

Roles & Responsibilities

  1. Make insightful conclusions and judgments based on a variety of online white papers and research papers on numerous insurance-related topics.
  2. Improving data gathering practices to incorporate information needed to construct analytical systems.
  3. Possess the ability to regularly automate a variety of operations with Python, R, and other languages.
  4. Provide the expert knowledge and abilities required for all stages of data analysis, including the use of accepted statistical techniques for analysis, QA/QC, documentation, and presentation.
  5. Use complex synthesis and result packaging to communicate analytical findings (with PPT slides and graphics)
  6. Participate actively in cross-functional projects, interpret data to produce insights that can be put to use, and assist with ad hoc reporting and analysis.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a closely related discipline, such as operations research, applied mathematics, econometrics, or statistics
  • 0–1 years of practical experience in related positions
  • Competent in Python and R programming. Programming in Julia is a plus.
  • Tools for manipulating data (SQL, Microsoft Office); advanced Excel knowledge.
  • Proficient in writing, documentation, and communication, as demonstrated by technical presentations at conferences and meetings or white papers.
  • analytical, creative, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong practical statistics abilities in areas like regression, statistical testing, distributions, etc.
